To what extent have Iowans been bombarded with political advertising?

How have the many millions of dollars been spent? I live in Iowa, am politically active and I am even annoyed by all this advertisement. Watching the evening news the commercials often show 3 or even 4 candidate commercials back to back. Not really sure how effective they can be.
