Should the US Supreme Court give Constitutional Free Speech rights to Corporations for Political Advertising ?

Posted on August 22nd, 2011 by admin1 in political advertising

Does the Constitution stand for people or business?
The Supreme Court is hearing arguments today attempting to overturn the restrictions on Campaign Financing by Corporations and Unions as a Free Speech issue.

Absolutley not! Our founding Fathers would never have considered giving free speech rights to non humans. This should be stopped.

in the current legal environment, BOTH.
however, this will be coming to an end when an individual wins a supreme court case by proving that corporations actually have SUPERIOR rights to humans.

It is for the individual. Not the people or corporations..References :

Well, are corporations like entities unto themselves?
Or are they run by PEOPLE, with investors (who I imagine are also people) backing them?References :

Why does the gov’t need to silence political speech by corporations? What is the compelling need to do so, or the compelling harm that is to be prevented?References :

I certainly hope NOT, corporations don’t elect our officials, the PEOPLE do…References :

You really should read it. Any company organization or corporation is and has been free to openly support any issue, party or candidate they like. The reason most do not is the financial reprecussions if they offend certain groups.References :

It is not up to the supreme Court to give any rights. They simply interpret the Constitution. It seems clear that the inalienable rights described in the document were meant for people and not corporations..

It would be a huge stretch to include corporations but I have seen the Constitution perverted before to create rights that are non-existent in the Constitution, like Roe v. Wade, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they screwed this up as well..

I do worry though that the government might try to silence those individuals who are part of a corporation from exercising their free speech rights..References :

corporations are already granted free speech rights. What they are prohibited from doing is to require any employee to campaign/promote any particular candidate/issue while at work, under threat of losing their jobs.References :
