So Obama wants to limit the amount of campaign contributions that Unions and corporations can give?

So exactly WHY are republicans blocking it?

Stop blocking legislation to limit the amount of money corporations and unions can spend on campaign advertising, President Barack Obama is telling Republicans, saying their strategy is "politics at its worst."

You don’t have the whole story, typical. Part of the bill excludes transparency of contributions from organizations(like unions) that typically give to the democratic party. Why should some be excluded form reporting what they gave or even who gave it while others have to report everything. All or none is what the bill should be addressing, not some.

Because that likely amounts to more than half of their contributions… besides the rich fat cats.References :

Why is this an issue for the prez….because it’s an election year and another one is coming up shortly? I don’t see why he is wasting him time on this legislation when there are much more important issues that need his attention. This is laughable and pathetic.References :

Republicans want to block it because they receive the most corporate money.

For example, the 10 member of congress who took the most from "big oil" are all Repuglicans:

Republicans don’t want anyone to know who is funding the Tea Party, because if the media ever got proof that it really isn’t a "grassroots" movement, funded by individual $5 and $10 donations, Republicans would be toast in the November elections.

Republicans will fight any kind of transparency. They only do well in the dark…References :
